Constellation

Constellation is a former mining town tucked into Yavapai County, Arizona, sitting at roughly 3,560 feet above sea level. Its existence grew directly out of the Monte Cristo Mine, with additional mines eventually clustering around the area and drawing enough people to sustain a post office and a population of about 250 by 1925.

Today nothing stands of the town itself — no buildings, no streets, no recognizable structures remain. What visitors do encounter are the scattered ruins of the various mines that once surrounded the settlement, making the site more of an industrial remnant than a townsite in any visible sense.

Anyone making the trip should come with modest expectations for the town proper and an appreciation for the mining-era landscape that frames the area. The moderate elevation keeps conditions reasonable for much of the year, though Arizona summers bring intense heat and winters can introduce cold and rough road conditions depending on access routes.
