About Bennettville
Bennettville is a ghost town in Mono County, California, situated along Mine Creek roughly four miles east-southeast of Mount Conness. Silver was the draw that brought settlers here, and like many such camps the community eventually faded when the economic promise gave out.
Visitors reaching Bennettville today do so on foot — this is a hike-in destination with no road access to the site itself. Given its Mono County location and elevation in the broader eastern California highlands, the site is most approachable in summer and early fall, when snow has cleared and the terrain is passable. Winters bring conditions that make the area dangerous or outright unreachable.
