About Axial
Axial is a former coal mining town in Moffat County, Colorado, now considered a ghost town. The community grew around coal extraction and has since been abandoned, leaving behind the quiet remnants of a once-active settlement.
Visitors today will find little more than traces of the town's past amid the open Colorado landscape. As with most ghost towns of its era, physical remains are sparse, and the site is best appreciated as a piece of regional industrial history rather than a destination with dramatic ruins.
