About Askwith
Askwith is a ghost town in Piscataquis County, Maine, situated between Greenville and Rockwood near Misery Knob. It once supported a post office and served as a railroad station, though by 1895 neither a post office nor an express office was operating there — only the railroad remained active at that time.
The station was eventually renamed Tarratine and later discontinued. Today, the railroad corridor that once connected Askwith to the wider region has been converted into an ATV trail, making it accessible to off-road enthusiasts. Visitors will find a remote, heavily wooded setting with little physical evidence of the former settlement beyond the repurposed rail corridor itself.
