About this water
Vallecito Reservoir in the San Juan Mountains near Durango is a scenic destination offering excellent fishing for rainbow trout, brown trout, and kokanee salmon in a remote mountain setting. The reservoir is surrounded by the Weminuche Wilderness and provides boat and shore fishing opportunities throughout the season. Kokanee salmon fishing peaks in late summer, and the reservoir also supports good populations of northern pike.
