About Snowy Range Scenic Byway

Snowy Range Scenic Byway is a 28.2-mile drive through the Laramie Ranger District of Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest in Wyoming. The route is a National Forest Scenic Byway and also carries designation as a Wyoming State Scenic Byway. It passes through the communities of Centennial, Ryan Park and Tenmile, and the Forest Service manages it. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Centennial, at about 8,170 feet, show July as the warmest month, with highs around 76°F and lows near 48°F. August is close behind at about 75°F and 46°F. June and September bring highs in the high 60s to low 70s and nights around 40°F. By October, highs drop to about 56°F with lows near 28°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 34°F and lows near 12°F. Higher stretches of the route run cooler than the station readings. Along the route, Lake Marie Trail and West Lake Marie are about 0.1 mile away, as is Spruce Campground. The Medicine Bow Peak Area for climbing sits roughly 0.4 mile from the byway.
