Kamiak Butte
About
Kamiak Butte is a summit in southeastern Washington, rising to 3,644 feet about 5.5 miles from the town of Palouse. It sits in a cluster of trails, with several routes starting within a mile of the top. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Pullman show July and August highs around 84 to 85°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the upper 30s and a few snowy days each month. The closest trails are the West End Primitive Trail, about 0.4 miles away, and the Backside Trail at about half a mile. The Sunset Trail, used for cross-country skiing, is 0.8 miles off, and Fourmile Creek, a canoeing spot, lies about 2 miles away.
