Shawnee State Park
About
Shawnee State Park covers 4,199 acres of state park land in southern Pennsylvania, about a mile from the town of Schellsburg. Managed by the state park agency, it holds two campgrounds within its boundaries, making it a base for overnight stays as well as day trips. Late spring through early fall is the most comfortable stretch for a visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station put September highs around 75°F with lows near 50°F, while July highs reach about 84°F. Several trails start close by, including the Lake Shore Trail just 0.2 miles away and the Field Trail and Shawnee Trail within a mile. Paddlers can reach Buffalo Run, about 4.5 miles off.
