Launch #2

Launch #2 is a boat launch in Maurice K. Goddard State Park in western Pennsylvania, about 0.7 miles from the town of New Vernon. It serves as one of the park's access points for getting a boat onto the water. For timing a trip, typical averages from the Mercer, PA weather station, about 14 miles away and at nearly the same elevation, give a good picture of the seasons. Summer is the warmest stretch, with highs around 79°F in June and 82°F in both July and August, and overnight lows in the mid-50s. May and September are milder, with highs of 71°F and 75°F. Spring warms quickly from a high of 48°F in March to 62°F in April, while October cools to around 63°F during the day and 38°F at night. Winter is cold, with January highs near 35°F and lows around 16°F, and February only slightly warmer. Within the same park, about 2.2 miles away, the South Shore Trail offers cross-country skiing in winter.
