Loowit Falls
About
Loowit Falls is a waterfall in Hood River County, Oregon, within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. It sits at about 713 feet, roughly 5 miles from the town of Cascade Locks. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical July and August highs reach about 80°F with only four or five wet days a month, based on averages from the nearby Bonneville Dam weather station. That station sits about 650 feet lower than the falls, so temperatures at the falls run a little cooler. Winter brings highs in the low 40s and rain on 20 or more days a month. The Eagle Creek hike begins less than a mile away, and the Tanner Cutoff Trail #448 is about 1.5 miles off. For an overnight stay, Eagle Creek Campground is about 3 miles away. Paddlers can find Herman Creek about 4 miles away.
