Iowa Hill

Iowa Hill is a summit within Chehalem Ridge Natural Area in Oregon, about 1.3 miles from the small community of Laurelwood. Typical averages from the nearby Forest Grove weather station show a clear seasonal swing. July and August are the driest months, with highs around 81 to 82°F, lows near 54°F and only about three wet days each. June and September are also relatively dry and mild, with highs in the 70s. From November through March, rain is frequent, with 16 to 20 wet days a month and highs between 44 and 55°F. Winter lows sit around 33°F. The Forest Grove station sits much lower than the summit, so temperatures up on the hill run cooler than these figures. Several trails start almost at the summit. The Mampaɬ Trail and Zorzal Trail are each about 0.1 mile away, the Chehalem Ridge Trail is 0.4 mile off, and the Witches' Butter Trail is about half a mile away. Paddlers can find McFee Creek roughly 5.7 miles from the hill.
