Nerstrand Big Woods State Park is a 1,630-acre state park in southeastern Minnesota, about 2 miles from the town of Nerstrand. The land is managed by the state park agency, and the park holds two campgrounds within its boundaries, making it a base for overnight stays as well as day visits. Summer and early fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Faribault weather station show July highs around 82°F and September highs near 73°F, while winter brings highs in the 20s and regular snow days from December through February. Paddlers can head to Prairie Creek, about 6 miles away, or the Little Cannon River, roughly 9 miles out. Mountain bikers will find the CROCT Trail from Walgreens and Heath Creek Trail within about 8 miles.
