Bows Lake Boat Launch

Bows Lake Boat Launch is a boat launch in northern Michigan, about 6 miles from the town of Vanderbilt. It gives access to Bows Lake. Summer is the warmest stretch for getting on the water. Typical averages from the weather station at nearby Gaylord show July highs around 77°F with lows near 55°F. June and August run only slightly cooler, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the low 50s. Expect rain on roughly nine or ten days a month in midsummer. May highs average about 64°F, though nights still drop to around 40°F. By September, highs settle near 68°F, and October cools to about 54°F with more frequent wet days. Winter is cold and snowy. January highs average about 24°F with lows near 8°F, and snow falls on around 16 days that month. Snow typically appears from November through April, tapering off in May. The surrounding area leans toward winter recreation. Lost Valley Bible Camp and Retreat Center sits about 6 miles away. The cross-country ski trails Judys and Pancake are about 7.5 miles off, and Boyne Mountain offers downhill skiing roughly 8 miles from the launch.
