Warwick State Forest
About
Warwick State Forest is a 70-acre state forest in north-central Massachusetts, managed by the state park agency and located about 6 miles from the town of Orange. The forest is small, which makes it a compact stop rather than a full-day destination on its own. Most visitors will want to pair it with one of the trails or waterways close by. For comfortable conditions, late spring through early fall works well. Typical averages from the nearby Tully Lake weather station run from highs around 71°F in May to about 75°F in September, while July averages near 85°F. Several nearby options are within easy reach. The closest are the Washbowl Trail about a mile away and the Old M & M Trail about 2 miles out. Paddlers can head to the East Branch Tully River, and campers can find sites at Tully Lake Recreation Area, roughly 6 miles from the forest.
