West Beach

West Beach is a public ocean beach in Massachusetts, managed by New Bedford Parks Recreation and Beaches. The nearest town is Bliss Corner, about a mile away. Summer is the warmest stretch. Typical averages from the New Bedford weather station, about a mile from the beach, put July highs near 84°F with lows around 67°F. August is close behind at about 82°F, and June reaches about 78°F. Those same months are also the driest, with around eight or nine wet days each. September stays mild, with highs near 75°F. By October highs drop to about 64°F. Winter is cold: January averages a high of 38°F and a low of 22°F, with about 11 wet days. Spring warms slowly, from highs near 47°F in March to about 68°F in May. For more time outdoors nearby, the American Perimeter Trail is about 4.6 miles away and the Blue Trail is about 5.4 miles away. Paddlers can head to the East Branch Westport River, about 7 miles off. The Beach Loop Trail, just under 9 miles away, adds another shoreline-themed walk.
