North Captiva Island: Barrier Island Geopark
About
North Captiva Island: Barrier Island Geopark is a public beach access point on the Florida coast, about 5.4 miles from the town of Captiva. It's a beach destination rather than a trail, so there's no set route or climb to plan around. The most comfortable time to visit is winter into spring, when typical averages from a nearby weather station show highs around 75°F in January and 81°F in March, with only five or six wet days a month. Summer runs hotter and much wetter, with highs near 92°F and about 18 wet days in July and August. For a hike to pair with a beach day, Indigo Trail lies about 9 miles away.
