Piedra River is a climbing area in the Pagosa Ranger District of the San Juan National Forest in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. It sits within a cluster of climbing spots, with the Piedra River - East Side and Piedra River - Lower West areas a few miles away. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Vallecito Reservoir show July highs around 80°F with lows near 53°F, while winter highs stay in the upper 30s. The closest trail is the Piedra hike, about half a mile away. Sand Creek is a similar distance. For camping, Crazy Horse Outfitters and Bridge Campground are both within about five miles.
