The Ice Caves are a climbing area in the Aspen Ranger District of Colorado's White River National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among other climbing spots, with Gollum's Cave and Goal Post Boulder each about 0.1 mile away. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Aspen put July highs around 76°F with lows near 48°F. That station sits well below the caves, so temperatures up high run cooler. Lincoln Creek Dispersed Campground is about 0.4 mile away, and Weller Campground is about a mile off. Weller Lake and the Roaring Fork River are both within about a mile and a half.
