Lopez Lake Recreation Area

Lopez Lake Recreation Area is a county park in California, managed by the County of San Luis Obispo and located about 8 miles from the community of Edna. It serves as a base for a cluster of hiking trails that start within a mile of one another, making it easy to combine several short outings in a single visit. Weather is mild through much of the year. Typical averages from the San Luis Obispo airport station, about 10 miles away, show late spring and early summer as the most comfortable stretch, with May highs around 72°F and only a few wet days. Midsummer through September is dry and warmer, with highs near 79°F. Trails close to the park include the Duana Vista Spur, Wittenberg and High Ridge trails, each about half a mile away. Santa Margarita Lake Recreation Area, roughly 9 miles off, is another option for fishing.
