Ward Avenue
About
Ward Avenue is a public ocean beach on the California coast, about a mile from the small community of Cleone. There is no fee to visit. The most comfortable time to come is summer into early fall, when typical highs at a nearby weather station reach about 65°F from July through September and wet days drop to just two to four a month. Winter is cooler and much rainier, with highs in the low 50s and around 16 or 17 wet days in December and January. For more time outdoors, the Ten Mile River and South Fork Ten Mile River offer canoeing within about 5 to 7 miles, while Belinda Point Trail and the Ecological Staircase Trail are hiking options less than 9 miles away.
