About
Tolowa Dunes State Park is a public beach on the far northern California coast, within the Humboldt-Del Norte Unit and about 2 miles from the town of Fort Dick. The park has restrooms and accessible access, and a fee is charged. Late summer into early fall is the driest and mildest stretch. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Crescent City put highs around 66°F in August and September, with only three or four wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the low to mid 50s and rain on about half the days. For more time outdoors, the Peninsula Trail and Lake Earl Coastal Lagoon Trail are both within about 5 miles, and the Kelsey Trail lies a little farther out. Paddlers can head to South Fork Rowdy Creek, roughly 6 miles away.
