Manila Dunes Recreation Area

Manila Dunes Recreation Area is a public ocean beach on the California coast, about 0.7 miles from the town of Manila. The recreation area includes restrooms and accessible access. There is no fee, and dogs are allowed. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Eureka's Woodley Island, 2.5 miles away, show a mild, narrow temperature range all year. Summer is the driest stretch. July and August average highs of 63 to 64°F and lows in the low 50s, with only about three wet days a month. September stays similarly warm, with highs near 64°F and about five wet days. Winter is cool and frequently wet. December through March bring highs around 55 to 56°F, lows near 40 to 42°F and roughly 15 to 17 wet days a month. Snow days average zero in every month. Late spring and October fall in between, with highs around 60 to 62°F and fewer rainy days than winter. Several short trails start close by. Sunset Dune Trail is just 0.1 miles away, and Beach Pea Trail and Wallflower Dune Trail are within a third of a mile. WoLal Trail (Forest) is about half a mile off.
