About Deep Creek/Last Dollar Trailhead
The Deep Creek Trail #418 begins at the trailhead parking area on Last Dollar Road (FSR 638), about 1 mile north of the Telluride Regional Airport. This trail provides access into the Mount Sneffels Wilderness, where Wilderness Regulations apply. Approximately 1 mile from the trailhead at the first trail intersection, there is access to the Whipple Mountain and Iron Mountain Trails (west); both enter the Mount Sneffels Wilderness. There is also a connector route to the Town of Telluride via the Jud Wiebe Trail #432. Access from the East side of the trail is done from the Jud Wiebe Trailhead on Aspen Street in Telluride. Approximately 0.8 miles is the intersection with Deep Creek Trail. This is a good trail for early and late season use due to its southern exposure. Most of the trail travels through aspen with scattered spruce/fir, crossing several bridges along the way. There are several steep sections that make it a challenging hike or bike ride. Several overlooks provide panoramic views of the ski area and San Juan Mountains to the south. The total length of the trail is just over 7 miles.
