Colorado Parks & Wildlife
The BLM manages a 600 acre tract of land near Crested Butte, CO in the Slate River Valley as the Oh Be Joyful Recreation Area. Oh Be Joyful campground has 30 campsites and offers camping with 12 sites for vehicles and 18 for tents only along with a group campsite that can accommodate up to 30 people.The campground has vault toilets, fire rings, bear boxes, and picnic tables. There is no running water. This campground is nestled in a valley below mountain peaks and Slate River runs right past the campground. Many people come Oh Be Joyful to view waterfalls on Oh Be Joyful Creek which is a short hike west of the campground. The views from the campground are particularly stunning, especially in fall when much of the valley is blanketed with gold aspen leaves. There is some day use parking for short hikes. For more information, please contact the BLM Gunnison Field Office. NOTE: All campsites are reservable on Recreation.gov. It is highly recommended to have a reservation prior to arrival as the campground is almost always full.
