Shattucksburg

Shattucksburg is a vanished community now absorbed into the city of Columbus, originally located in Perry Township, Franklin County, Ohio. Its origins trace to 1850, when Simon Shattuck — a Massachusetts-born farmer who lived from 1793 to 1875 — subdivided a portion of his farmland into lots, giving rise to a small settlement that bore his name. Shattuck himself ran a general store at the corner of Henderson Road and Kenny Road.

Today nothing of the original community survives as a distinct place. Visitors curious about the site will find an ordinary urban Columbus neighborhood rather than any preserved historic remnant. It is worth a look for local history enthusiasts, but expectations should be modest.
