About Middle Bar
Middle Bar is a ghost town along the Mokelumne River in Amador County, California, recognized today as a California Historical Landmark. It began as a mining community, one of many settlements that sprang up across the region during the era of active resource extraction.
Visitors should expect little in the way of standing structures — as with most ghost towns of this type, what remains is largely the historical designation itself and the river setting. The landmark status makes it a point of interest for history-minded travelers, but the experience is quiet and understated rather than a developed heritage site.
