About Mountain Lakes Trailhead

Provides access to:; Mountain Lakes Wilderness; via; Mountain Lakes Trail. Located 50 minutes northwest of Klamath Falls, Oregon, this rustic trailhead has no restroom facilities and limited parking. Campgrounds can be found nearby at Lake of the Woods. Horseback riders are advised to ride from Lake of the Woods on the connector trail to the trailhead. Hiking and riding opportunities include an; 8.2 Mountain Lakes Loop Trail, which winds along the southern tip of the caldera and connects to three trails in the interior of the wilderness: Clover Creek; travels; 4.3 miles; from the south, Mountain Lakes Trail; travels; 6.3; miles; from the west, and Varney Creek Trail; travels; 4.4; miles; from the North. No potable water at the trailhead. Visitors need to pack plenty of water.
