About Hummock/Boundary Th
Hike among the "hummocks", huge pieces of Mount St. Helens that slid off and were part of the massive 1980 landslide. The north flank collapsed and slid away, slamming into a ridge that diverted it west into the Toutle River Valley for 14 miles. This new landscape, initially barren, now teems with life. View the returning forest, wetlands and ponds on this relatively easy, 2.5-mile loop trail. Connect with Boundary Trail #1 to head east toward Johnston Ridge Observatory.
