About Cottonwood Lake Group Picnic Area

Cottonwood Group Picnic Site is located next to Cottonwood Lake in the Salt River Mountains at an elevation of 7,000 feet, approximately 13 miles southeast of Afton, Wyoming. North Fork Creek runs near this site where pines and aspens offer limited shade and summer wildflowers are abundant. Two large picnic tables and an accessible fire ring will accommodate your group up to 50 people. This picnic site is available for day use only. Overnight camping is allowed at the adjacent campground a group campsite is also available by reservation at site 13. Vault toilets, potable water, and bear-resistant garbage cans are provided, but picnickers must bring their own garbage bags. Parking is provided for up to 8 vehicles, although parking area is for day-users at the lake as well. To reserve this site go to recreation.gov.
