The Mad River near Moretown is a classic Vermont freestone trout stream with excellent populations of wild brook trout and stocked brown trout. The river tumbles through a scenic valley with numerous pools, riffles, and pocket water that hold fish throughout the season. Dry fly fishing with elk hair caddis and parachute adams patterns is highly effective.
