Yuki Wilderness Area

Yuki Wilderness Area is an 18,048-acre federally protected wilderness in California, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. It offers primitive backcountry terrain suited to hiking, backpacking, and those seeking genuine solitude away from developed facilities and motorized access.

As a designated Wilderness Area, Yuki enforces strict non-motorized travel rules. No roads, motors, or mechanized equipment are permitted—this is foot and pack travel only. Visitors must practice Leave No Trace ethics: pack out all waste, camp on durable surfaces away from water sources, and minimize impact on the landscape and wildlife. The area's remote character means self-sufficiency is essential; water sources, trail conditions, and weather can vary significantly, and help is not nearby.
