About Sid's Mountain Wilderness Area

Sid's Mountain Wilderness Area spans over 54,000 acres of federally protected backcountry in Utah, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. As a designated Wilderness Area, the landscape remains primitive and roadless—a place for non-motorized travel where hikers and backpackers can find genuine solitude away from developed infrastructure.

The terrain is suited to foot travel and backcountry camping, offering the kind of untracked exploration that draws people to wilderness. There are no maintained trails, roads, or motorized access; mechanized travel of any kind is prohibited. This is true wilderness: you navigate by map and compass, travel on foot, and camp in dispersed sites using Leave No Trace principles.

Access is seasonal and weather-dependent. Summer and early fall represent the most practical visiting window, though conditions can shift quickly at elevation. Winter snow and spring runoff can make travel difficult or impossible. Come prepared for self-sufficiency—water sources, weather, and terrain are your responsibility.
