Rainbow Mountain Wilderness Area

Rainbow Mountain Wilderness Area is a 20,192-acre federally protected wilderness in Nevada managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is primitive backcountry where motorized vehicles, bicycles, and mechanized travel are prohibited. Visitors come here to hike and backpack in solitude, experiencing the landscape on foot under wilderness rules that require Leave No Trace practices and self-reliance.

Access is by foot only, and there are no maintained roads or developed facilities within the area. The wilderness character means you'll encounter minimal infrastructure and likely few other people.
