Little Lake George Wilderness

Little Lake George Wilderness is a 2,827-acre federally protected wilderness area in Florida, managed by the Forest Service. The landscape is primitive backcountry where motorized travel, mechanized equipment, and roads are prohibited—this is non-motorized terrain where hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to explore.

Visitors come here for backcountry hiking, backpacking, and the solitude that wilderness designation affords. Because this is a true Wilderness Area, you'll encounter no developed facilities, marked trails, or infrastructure. Travel is foot-traffic only, and you must follow Leave No Trace principles: pack out everything you pack in, camp on durable surfaces, and respect the primitive character of the land.

Access requires advance planning and awareness of current conditions through the managing Forest Service office. Florida's subtropical climate means summer heat and humidity are intense; shoulder seasons (spring and fall) often offer more comfortable conditions. Water sources and seasonal flooding are considerations you'll need to research before any visit. This is a place for experienced backcountry users who are self-sufficient and committed to wilderness ethics.
