Little Jacks Creek Wilderness Area

Little Jacks Creek Wilderness Area encompasses nearly 55,000 acres of federally protected backcountry in Idaho, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is true wilderness: no roads, no motors, no mechanized travel of any kind. It's a place for foot traffic only, where solitude and primitive conditions are the point.

Hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to experience the area. The terrain is rugged backcountry, suited to experienced travelers comfortable with route-finding and self-reliance. There are no maintained trail systems or developed infrastructure—you're traveling through raw landscape on your own terms.

Visit with Leave No Trace principles firmly in mind. Pack out everything you pack in, camp below tree line where possible, and travel lightly on the land. Water sources exist, but always filter or treat. Seasonal access depends on snow and weather; summer and early fall are the most reliable windows. Spring and late fall are possible but demand preparedness for changeable conditions. This is a place that rewards self-sufficiency and rewards those who respect its wildness.
