Eagle Canyon Wilderness Area

Eagle Canyon Wilderness Area spans over 15,000 acres of federally protected backcountry in southeastern Utah, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. As a designated Wilderness Area, the landscape remains primitive and roadless—a place where hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to move through the terrain. Solitude and the absence of mechanized travel are defining features; no motors, bikes, or maintained trails alter the character of the land.

Visitors should expect a true wilderness experience: navigation may require map and compass skills, water sources are limited and unpredictable, and self-sufficiency is essential. All travel is non-motorized and foot-powered. The area operates under strict Wilderness rules and Leave No Trace principles—pack out all waste, camp well away from water sources, and travel in small groups to minimize impact. Access is typically from surrounding BLM lands; check current conditions and regulations with the local BLM office before heading out. Spring and fall are generally the most favorable seasons, though snow and weather can be significant obstacles in winter months.
