Devil's Staircase Wilderness Area

Devil's Staircase Wilderness Area is a small, federally protected 4-acre tract managed by the Bureau of Land Management in Oregon. As a designated Wilderness Area, it is closed to all motorized and mechanized travel—no vehicles, mountain bikes, or mechanical equipment of any kind are permitted. The landscape is primitive backcountry, managed to preserve its natural character and offer visitors a genuine wilderness experience.

Hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to explore this area. The Wilderness designation means you'll encounter no roads, maintained infrastructure, or developed facilities. Access is by foot only, and the solitude and remoteness that come with such restrictions are central to what a federally protected Wilderness offers. Be prepared to navigate and camp with minimal to no trail support.

Visitors must follow Leave No Trace principles strictly: pack out all waste, camp on durable surfaces away from water sources, and respect the land's primitive condition.
