About Beartrap Canyon Wilderness Area

Beartrap Canyon Wilderness Area is a 40-acre federally designated Wilderness managed by the Bureau of Land Management in Utah. This primitive backcountry offers hikers and backpackers a chance to experience undeveloped landscape without roads, motors, or mechanized travel of any kind.

Visiting means embracing true wilderness conditions and Leave No Trace principles. There are no developed trails, facilities, or infrastructure—you navigate and camp on your own. All travel must be non-motorized and on foot. Pack out everything you pack in, camp responsibly away from water sources, and minimize your footprint. This is a place for self-reliant visitors seeking solitude and untrammeled backcountry.
