Buggs Island Lake, also known as John H. Kerr Reservoir, is one of the largest lakes in the eastern United States and is famous for its striped bass and largemouth bass fisheries. The Occoneechee access area provides boat ramps and shoreline fishing opportunities on this massive 50,000-acre impoundment. Striped bass fishing is exceptional in spring when fish stack up near tributary mouths.
