After any significant rain, give the sandstone rock time to dry out fully before climbing, as wet sandstone damages easily and holds break.
Morning sessions are the move, especially from late spring through early fall. You get cooler temps and better friction before the sun hits the rock directly. In winter, afternoon can actually be preferable if the crag gets sun exposure and morning temps are near freezing.
Pine Mountain falls within the Los Padres National Forest, so a valid America the Beautiful pass or National Forest Adventure Pass may be required for parking depending on the specific trailhead. Check current closure status before your trip, as fire-related closures in the Los Padres can happen with little notice and affect access to the entire area.
