About Spring Gulch Trail System
Spring Gulch Trail System is a Nordic-focused ski destination nestled in Colorado's high country at 8,315 feet elevation, offering a intimate alternative to crowded resort skiing. The trail system features 35 maintained cross-country ski routes totaling approximately 27.4 kilometers, with a balanced mix of terrain suitable for all skill levels. Three easy routes provide gentle introductions to Nordic skiing with minimal elevation gain, while 25 intermediate trails offer the meat of the system with scenic traverses and moderate climbs. Seven advanced routes challenge experienced skiers with steeper pitches and technical descents, making the 567-foot vertical gain manageable but rewarding. The absence of lift infrastructure means this is a human-powered experience, where you control your pace and immerse yourself in Colorado's backcountry character without the commercialization of larger resorts.
