About Arapahoe East
Arapahoe East was a historic ski area located on the eastern slope of the Continental Divide in Colorado's high country, sitting at elevation around 11,000 feet. Though now abandoned, the site represents an important chapter in Colorado's ski history and remains of interest to backcountry skiers and snowshoers seeking access to the high alpine terrain of the Indian Peaks Wilderness area. The terrain featured a mix of tree-lined runs and open bowls typical of Continental Divide skiing, with reliable snow due to its elevation and exposure to winter storm systems. Today, adventurers visit the area primarily for backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, and summer hiking rather than resort skiing, accessing the surrounding wilderness trails and peaks including views toward James Peak and the nearby Never Summer Range.
