Beaverhead National Forest

Beaverhead National Forest spans nearly 571,000 acres across southwestern Montana, offering a vast landscape of public land managed for multiple uses. The forest draws visitors for backcountry hiking and backpacking, dispersed camping throughout the forest, trout fishing in streams and lakes, and hunting during designated seasons. Scenic drives provide access to the landscape, and the terrain supports horseback riding and wildlife viewing opportunities.

Summer and early fall are the prime seasons, when high-elevation snow clears and trails become passable. Winter conditions arrive by late fall and persist through spring, making many areas snowbound or difficult to access.
