Old Butte Historical Adventures

Old Butte Historical Adventures offers guided tours of Butte's mining-era history year-round. The Underground City Tour explores the prohibition-era Rookwood Speakeasy (1919–1930s) beneath Main Street and the 1890 City Jail, where Evel Knievel was incarcerated. The East Tour walks through the 1920 Finntown neighborhood, the Myra Brothel, Tony's Tinshop (1914), and the Cabbage Patch Shanty Town (1880–1940s). The Dellinger Tour accesses offices inaccessible for a decade (1938–2005), including a private brothel connected to a men's clothing store, the Butte Adjustment Company, and Charles Juttner's Socialist and Communist offices, with original period furnishings and documents. Summer tours run Monday through Saturday at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. with reservations; winter tours are by appointment. After-hours private tours for groups of four or more start after 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
