About Wranglers Roost Stagecoach Stop

Tucked into New River in Maricopa County, Arizona, Wranglers Roost Stagecoach Stop carries several layers of history on a single piece of ground. Its earliest chapter came in the late 1800s, when it briefly served travelers as a stagecoach stop along a route through the area.

The property's modern story began in the 1930s, when Carl Jesse Myers developed it into a dude ranch. The venture proved remarkably resilient, drawing guests steadily through an otherwise difficult decade. Decades later, in the late 1960s, the original rock structure was expanded significantly, eventually operating as a resort with a pool, hot tub, restaurant, and hotel accommodations. Current owners Reid and Heidi Stewart continue to manage the property and also rent the structure out.

Unlike many ghost towns reduced to scattered foundations, this site retains standing structures that reflect its evolving past. Visitors interested in history, photography, or simply exploring a place with an unusual arc from stagecoach stop to dude ranch to resort will find it a distinctive stop in the greater Phoenix area.
