About Vulcan

Vulcan is a ghost town in Gunnison County, Colorado, situated about 15 miles southwest of the city of Gunnison. It began as a mining camp along Camp Creek in 1894 and was abandoned within roughly three decades of its founding.

Visitors today will find little more than the remnants of a short-lived camp set against the Colorado landscape. The sparse remains and remote rural setting make it a quiet destination for those drawn to historic sites and photography rather than developed recreation.
