About Voltage
Voltage is a former unincorporated community tucked into a remote corner of Harney County, Oregon, sitting on the south shore of Malheur Lake close to the Donner und Blitzen River, roughly 34 miles south of Burns. The historical record for Voltage is thin, and visitors today should not expect standing structures or a developed site — this is quiet, open high-desert terrain where a community once existed in name.
The draw here is less about ghost-town ruins and more about the surrounding landscape, wetlands, and birdlife typical of the Malheur Lake basin. Access follows rural roads out of Burns, and conditions can turn difficult in wet seasons when low-lying ground near the lake becomes saturated.
