About Unionville

Tucked into the hills of Pershing County, Nevada, Unionville is a tiny census-designated place with a remarkable past. Its peak era came in the 1870s, when prospectors and miners flooded the area and briefly made it a bustling community. Among those drawn to the area was Samuel Langhorne Clemens, who tried his luck prospecting here before moving on without much to show for it.

Today the hamlet has dwindled to a population of just 27 and is home to a single business. Visitors arrive via Unionville Road, which branches off near State Route 400 south of Interstate 80 — a route accessible by passenger car. What greets you is a quiet, faded settlement that offers a genuine glimpse into a Nevada boomtown that time largely left behind.
