About Tubb Town

Tubb Town — also recorded as Field City — is a ghost town in Weston County, Wyoming, that never had the chance to grow into the railroad community its founders envisioned. Instead, during its brief window of existence in 1889, it became known for saloons, brothels, and similarly rough establishments that defined daily life there. The settlement rose and collapsed within the span of a few months, making it one of the starkest early examples of a boom-and-bust cycle in the Black Hills.

Because Tubb Town existed for such a short time, visitors should arrive with modest expectations. Documentary history outweighs physical remains here, and the experience is less about dramatic ruins than about standing in a place where an entire chapter of frontier life opened and closed in a single year.
