Tower House Historic District

Tower House Historic District is a former mining town in Shasta County, California, born out of the Gold Rush era and named for Levi Tower, who constructed the Tower House Hotel and played a central role in establishing the settlement. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 2, 1973, recorded as entry #73000257.

The site sits just west of Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, making it a natural add-on for visitors already exploring that area. As with most ghost towns, visitors should expect remnants of a historic community rather than a living one — the value here is in the sense of place and its connection to California's Gold Rush history.
